OUR PLACE

The property sits on the bank of the Sable River, a river that feeds into the Atlantic Ocean’s tides. It is a haven to the tens of thousands of migrating Brant and local wildlife and is surrounded by a mixed forest of maple, birch, spruce, and pine trees. The property has been servicing Nova Scotia’s South Shore tourists since February 1993 under Sable River View Cottages. The first generation of the business owners were a lovely German couple, that had left every guest wanting to stay longer and come back. Since August 2019, the business has changed ownership. It is now operating under 1 & Only Riverside Accommodations and is managed by the GHD Hospitality Group Inc.

Year-Round 5 Star Cottage Escape

We are open and enjoyable in all four seasons. But of course, this is Nova Scotia, and we do have weather variations. Each season has its ups and downs and it’s best to know what to expect so you can plan accordingly.

In any season, you’ll have access to not only your own hot tub, but our firepits, dry sauna, and mini gym.

Winter

In winter, expect limited restaurant access and different outdoor activities; winter is often best for cooking your own favourite meal and planning intimate hot tub escapes.

Spring & Fall

Spring and fall are referred to as the “shoulder season” and you’ll usually find cool, clean temperatures, muddy ground, and many festivals - blossoms in the spring, harvest in the fall!

Summer

In summer, expect to find more mosquitos and a greater variety of options - we recommend heading out from 11am-4pm as adventure time in summer, and using our cottages as an evening relaxation haven. We recommend staying inside your screened-in patio or screened-in gazebo to enjoy the sunset and sunrise hours without any mother nature interruptions.

Do all the cottages at the property have their own private hot tub and are they available all year round?
Yes, all the four cottages at the property have their own private hot tubs that are available all year round.
Are all of the four cottages identical?
Yes, all four cottages are identical.
Do all of the cottages have a direct view of Sable River?
Three out of the available four cottages have direct view of the River (The Aspen, The Oak and The Spruce). The Pine is garden view.
Does the property have a cottage with a single bedroom?
No, all of the four cottages at the property are two-bedroom cottages.
Are pets allowed at the property?
No, unfortunately, due to an allergy on site, the property and all four cottages are NOT pet friendly.
What are the payment and cancellation policies?
Valid Credit Card All reservations must be guaranteed by a valid credit card. Failure to provide a valid Credit Card, would result to an automatic and immediate cancellation of the reservation. Read our Policies
What time is check-in and check-out and what is the procedure?
Check-in Time: 16:00 (4:00pm) Check-out Time: 10:00 am For convenience of our guests, the property has a self-check-in and a self-check-out procedure. On the day of arrival, the registered guest receives the details of check-in and how to access the reserved cottage.
Would it be possible to have an earlier check-in or a later check-out?
Due to the housekeeping schedule, early check-in and late check-out requests cannot be accommodated.
What is the maximum occupancy per cottage?
Cottage amenities are based on a maximum occupancy of 4 people. If the occupancy exceeds the maximum number of guests allowed, the Registered Guest will be asked to rent additional cottages for proper accommodations.
Is housekeeping available during my stay?
To provide privacy and comfort, housekeeping is provided prior to Check-In and after Check-Out only.
Are visitors allowed at the property?
Visitors are not allowed at the property or in the cottages. Failure to respect this policy will result in $50.00 extra charges per visitor to the Credit Card on file.
What is included in the cottages?
Each cottage has two-bedrooms: a bedroom with a queen bed and a bedroom with two twin-beds. A full kitchen with a dining table & 4 dining chairs. A sitting area that has a love seat sofa and two accent chairs. A single full-set washroom and shower that has shower, hand, face & makeup remover towels (based on four adult occupancies per cottage), tissue paper, hair dryer. A sitting area with a Satellite / Smart TV, Wi-Fi connection and air condition (Summer) and electric heater (Fall/Winter/Spring). A screened-in patio that has gas BBQ (Gas tanks are provided), a private hot tub and fire pit. Vacuum cleaner, hangers and iron are also available in each cottage.
What is included in the kitchens?
The kitchen has Fridge, Freezer and ice cube holder, Oven and Microwave, a Coffee maker that brews both with a single-serve pack (compatible with most packs) or ground coffee (it brews up to 10 oz. with a single-serve pack or up to 14 0z. with ground coffee), Tea Kettle, Dish drying rack and dish detergent, Toaster, Dish towels and Potholder, Cooking pot and colander, Skillet and saucepan, Cutting board, scissors and bottle opener, Cooking utensils and kitchen knives, Pyrex Baking Dish, Plates, bowls and flatware. Drink glasses, wine glasses and coffee mugs, Eating utensils and cutlery. * All utensils, Plates, bowls, cups, etc. are based on four adult occupancies per cottage. Additional utensils, bowls, cups, etc. are not available.
Is it possible to smoke inside the cottages?
All cottages are 100% Smoke-Free cottages and therefore, smoking is not allowed inside the cottages. The Policy applies to medical marijuana. However, guests are more than welcome to smoke outside of the cottages and within the screened-in patio of their cottages. For safety and to assure that the cottage is not exposed to items or actions that create an odor that is difficult to remove, smoking tobacco, marijuana, illegal drugs, e-cigarettes, vape pens, vaping, cartridges containing the liquid of nicotine, hookahs, incense, cigars, etc. inside the cottages are not permitted. Failure to respect this policy, a minimum of $100.00 cleaning fee per cottage will be applied to the registered guest’s Credit Card and a separate receipt will be emailed.
Would special requests be honoured?
All special requests are noted on reservations and staff will do their best to accommodate, however it is not guaranteed.
What are other on-site amenities?
Fireplace (firewood provided), Kids play area and picnic tables, Mini gymnasium and dry sauna, Kayaks, Canoes, paddles and life jackets, Bicycles and helmets.
What is the damage deposit and how am I engaged in the damage policy?
